REIKI FOR PHOBIAS

A phobia is an intense fear of something that, in reality, poses little or no actual danger. Common phobias and fears include closed-in places, heights, driving, flying insects, snakes, and needles. However, we can develop phobias of virtually anything. Most phobias develop in childhood, but they can also develop in adults.

If you have a phobia, you probably realize that your fear is unreasonable, yet you still can’t control your feelings. Just thinking about the feared object or situation may make you anxious. And when you’re actually exposed to the thing you fear, the terror is automatic and overwhelming.

The experience is so nerve-wracking that you may go to great lengths to avoid it — inconveniencing yourself or even changing your lifestyle. If you have claustrophobia, for example, you might turn down a lucrative job offer if you have to ride the elevator to get to the office. If you have a fear of heights, you might drive an extra twenty miles in order to avoid a tall bridge.

Understanding your phobia is the first step to overcoming it. It’s important to know that phobias are common. Having a phobia doesn’t mean you’re crazy! It also helps to know that phobias are highly treatable. You can overcome your anxiety and fear, no matter how out of control it feels.

Reiki is an individuals path to self-discovery and healing. Reiki means "universal life energy" and, as such, belongs to all of us. It is a gentle but powerful hands-on healing technique which works on a physical, emotional and spiritual level.

Reiki is a Japanese word meaning universal life energy, the energy which is all around us. Rei translates as Universal spirit and Ki as life force energy which is similar to the Indian Prana and the Chinese Chi (the essential life force of the earth, planets and stars and our own life vitality). This is the unseen life force energy or Ki that flows through us, if our life force energy is low, then we are more likely to get ill or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. Reiki is a gentle and powerful hands-on healing technique promoting stress reduction and relaxation and facilitates healing on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. It has existed for many thousands of years and it is said that Buddha and Jesus healed with this energy.

Like many alternative healing techniques now in our midst, Reiki is becoming increasingly popular among people who are interested in a holistic approach to health. Holistic healing addresses the whole person ie the mind, emotions and spirit as well as the physical body and believes that illness begins in the non-physical realms of the body before manifesting on a physical level. Emotional and mental pain and a disharmonious lifestyle disrupt the energy flow in a persons body causing blockages and eventually leading to disease and illness. It is therefore essential we address our health and lifestyles on a holistic level so our energy can flow freely throughout the body. Reiki treatments opens the mind and soul to the causes of our illnesses and accelerates the bodys own natural ability to heal itself.

My name is Sue Reynolds. I am a Reiki Master Teacher running a Reiki treatment clinic in Harrow. I specialise in helping clients from Harrow with stress related problems which Reiki is very beneficial in treating.

Whilst a one-off treatment is beneficial, a series of treatments will be most effective. However there is absolutely no obligation to commit to a number of sessions. I'm more than happy to offer an introductory session or to have a chat with you about your particular needs.
